COCKROACHES, 2026

Co-authored by Nina Lins

Exhibition selected for the Ginger Campari Photography and Graphic Arts Award, promoted by the Ponto de Fuga Gallery.

Poster collage (screen printing on paper), screen printing on bags, mixed media.

GRAPHIC INFESTATION

"Between resilience and disposal, the project investigates the polysemy of the word 'cockroach': from the insect that survives in urban cracks to the economic concept of low cost. The artists use unconventional supports - such as industrial waste and disposable materials - to print graphic narratives, both literal and symbolic, about the world of work, bureaucracy, and precariousness. On stage, female characters subvert the corporate masculinist imaginary, responding to supposed fragility with revolt and protagonism."

The work was part of the group exhibition A volta ao dia em 80 mundos (Around the Day in 80 Worlds), at Caroço Projeto (@carocoprojeto).
Curated by: Chico Sol.

"What is proposed in 'Around the Day in 80 Worlds' is to try to identify some of these drifts, these things that repeat themselves, of what becomes one alone but also becomes another 80 when related to itself and to the other. The world becomes one through this combinatorial analysis of thefts, borrowings, displacements, dazzling moments, memories and so many other phenomena that are possible and impossible to name." "It seemed that the works displayed a certain brutality, and this clearing was shaped by fatal refusal: to simple pleasure, to understanding, to positive resolution. Perhaps because of the city they inhabit, the city they circulate in." ( full text )
